Charlotte County Hospital closes X-ray services for upgrades

The Charlotte County Hospital (CCH) will see the shut down of its X-ray department until February 2026 while it undergoes upgrades to equipment.

The hospital is installing a digital radiography system, a modernization project supported by the Charlotte County Hospital Foundation.

“During this period, outpatient X-ray services will be provided at other Horizon facilities, including Fundy Health Centre, Saint John Regional Hospital, and St. Joseph Hospital to ensure continued access to necessary imaging,” a statement from the health authority said.

It is not expected to impact other services at the CCH.

Progressive Conservative MLA Kathy Bockus — who is responsible for the Saint Croix region — responded to online speculation the service reduction was part of the a wider rural hospital closure plan.

“So it may be rough and cause some issues for few months, but it will be worth it in the end,” she said in a post on Facebook. “It is no way related to any hospital closure plan.”
