Facilities close in Charlotte County amid winter storm

Recreational facilities and town halls have closed in Charlotte County amid a continuing winter storm.

The Garcelon Civic Centre and the W.C. O’Neill Arena Complex are both closed today due to the storm. St. Andrews has issued an alert advising against non-essential travel.

The New Brunswick RCMP said travel is not recommend on Route 1 from Rothesay to St. Stephen. More information on highway conditions are available at New Brunswick 511.

Environment Canada has all parts of Charlotte County under a Yellow Warning for snowfall. It is estimating 20 to 25 centimetres (cm) and wind gusts up to 50 kilometres per hour (km/h).

“Visibility will likely be reduced at times,” the warning said. “Allow extra time for travel.”
