Power outages remain widespread across New Brunswick on Saturday morning as NB Power continues restoration efforts following a powerful storm that moved through the province late Friday and into the overnight hours.
With cold temperatures and gusty winds expected through the day and overnight, some communities are opening warming centres to support residents affected by extended power outages. In Saint Andrews, residents without power are encouraged to go to the dining room at the WC O’Neill Arena.
According to NB Power, crews worked overnight to address emergency outages where conditions allowed. Restoration work is continuing Saturday, with additional personnel being deployed to areas experiencing the greatest impact.

The utility says damage assessors, safety specialists, line crews, and arborists are working together as conditions improve, while road and weather conditions continue to factor into the pace of restoration.
At the peak of the storm, approximately 90,000 customers were without power across the province. By noon on Saturday, that number dropped to approximately 56,000 still without power.
NB Power is reminding residents to stay well back from any downed lines or damaged infrastructure. “Do not approach downed lines as they can still be energized,” the utility said.
Customers without electricity are encouraged to report outages directly to NB Power (1-800-663-6272) to help crews identify and prioritize affected areas. The utility says outage information will continue to be updated regularly as restoration work progresses.
No timeline has been provided for full restoration.
