RCMP in New Brunswick have issued another Alert Ready for 35-year-old Todd John Lewis who escaped from Southwest Regional Correctional Centre in Shediac.
Police say it has ended the first alert sent province-wide on Friday.
“RCMP advise residents to remain vigilant that Todd John Lewis is still at large,” the alert said. “If observed, do not approach and call 911.”
Lewis escaped the jail by jumping the fence at the facility and ran off on foot towards Route 15, according to the New Brunswick RCMP.

“Police were advised of the escape at 12:28 a.m. on February 13, and patrols were made, but Lewis has not yet been located,” the release said.
RCMP were notified about seven hours after the escape.
Lewis is described as being approximately five feet seven inches (170 centimetres) tall and weighing approximately 146 pounds (66 kilograms). He has blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing blue pants, a brown coat and a black bonnet.
In the initial release, RCMP said the situation did not meet the criteria for an Alert Ready. At 12: 20 p.m. an alert was issued.
“Due to the length of time this incident has been ongoing, the NB RCMP has issued an Alert Ready message for the Province of New Brunswick to help locate Todd John Lewis, who escaped from the Southeast Regional Correctional Centre in Shediac. Please do not pick up hitchhikers and report anything suspicious to police immediately,” it said.
Anyone with information about Lewis’ whereabouts are asked call 911 or 1-888-506-RCMP (7267).
