The Courier welcomes Letters to the Editor as a forum for reader engagement and public discourse related to the news and commentary we publish in print and online. Submission of a letter does not guarantee publication. To be considered for publication, letters must comply with the following requirements:

  1. Relevance
Letters must address or respond directly to issues related to provincial or national issues. Submissions that fall outside the scope of our coverage or editorial focus may not be considered.

  2. Length
Letters can be up to 150 and 250 words in length. Letters that do not meet this requirement may be edited for length or declined at the discretion of the editor.

  3. Quality and Clarity
Letters must be clearly written, concise, and suitable for publication. The Courier reserves the right to edit letters for grammar, clarity, style, and length while preserving the original meaning.

  4. Author Identification and Verification
All submissions must include the writer’s full legal name, physical address, and telephone number for verification purposes. The writer’s full name and general location will be published with the letter. Specific addresses and telephone numbers will not be published and are collected solely for editorial verification. Anonymous letters or letters submitted under a pseudonym will not be published.

  5. Legal and Editorial Standards
Letters must adhere to The Courier’s editorial policies and applicable laws. Submissions must not contain false statements of fact, allegations, defamatory or libelous content, personal attacks, or unsubstantiated claims against individuals, businesses, or organizations. Letters that pose potential legal risk will be rejected.

By submitting a letter, the writer affirms that the content is original, accurate to the best of their knowledge, and does not violate any legal rights. The Courier reserves sole discretion over the selection, editing, and publication of all letters. Letters to the Editor reflect the opinions of the individual writers and do not necessarily represent the views, policies, or positions of The Courier, its editor, or its ownership.
