A new business in Saint Andrews market square: Salty C’s

A new business in the downtown core of Saint Andrews has just opened their doors.

Chad Michael-Brown, the owner, and ‘C’ of Salty C’s, said he and his family are excited to run a business in Market Square downtown.

“It feels great, the community here is great,” said Michael-Brown.

The store offers locally sourced lobster, oysters, salmon, mussels, and will have sushi days, according to Michael-Brown.

“It’s a seafood market, but it’s also a lobster roll takeout, and we have a lot of fresh things coming,” he said.

Michael-Brown explained he is always trying to figure out different ways to make the customer’s experience better and make it more exciting, with live music on the horizon.

Michael-Brown has been a part of the fishing industry for 14 years, coming from a fishing family on Campobello Island.

“This is just an added piece to get closer to the customer,” said Michael-Brown.

In keeping with tradition, his family will be part of this new aspect of the business as well.

“My brother’s here today working, my mom’s working, my wife, and our daughter all work here,” said Michael-Brown. “The whole room is going to tell the story of a local family and generational fishing.”

Mallory Brown, co-owner of Salty C’s, said running a business for the first time is nerve-racking, but everyone in the area is so accommodating and friendly, and the community has made it very easy and fun.

“I’ve always loved seafood, and I’ve always appreciated the fishing community as well, so I love being a part of it,” said Brown
