24-year-old woman dead following hit and run near St. Stephen

A 24-year-old woman has died following a hit and run in Milltown near St. Stephen, according to New Brunswick RCMP.

Police were called to Pleasant Street at 6:30 a.m. on October 3 after a report that a person had been struck by a vehicle. The victim died at the scene as a result of her injuries.

“Early in the investigation, police have reason to believe that the woman was struck by a vehicle at a high rate of speed, travelling Eastbound on Pleasant Street,” it said. “The vehicle did not remain at the scene.”

RCMP said it is working to identify the suspect vehicle that is believed to have “significant front end damage,” and are asking for the public’s help.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

“If you were travelling in the area and witnessed the collision or have dash-cam footage, local security footage, or if you have information that could help further the investigation, please contact the St. Stephen RCMP at 506-466-7030,” the release said.

Information can also be submitted anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
