RCMP in St. Stephen say a 43-year-old man has been charged with two counts of possession for the purposes of trafficking.
Police said on Feb. 14, members conducted a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle on Route 3 north of St. Stephen.
“Subsequently, police searched the vehicle and found what is believed to be fentanyl and methamphetamine, as well as two digital scales, packaging materials and cellphones,” the release said. “As a result, the driver, a 43-year-old man from St. Stephen, and a 36-year-old woman were arrested.”
RCMP said the passenger was later released.
Micheal Foster appeared in Saint John Provincial Court through tele-remand. He is scheduled for a bail hearing on Tuesday, according to the Saint John Provincial Court Docket.
“New Brunswick RCMP is committed to reducing the supply of controlled substances in our communities and to deterring persons from engaging in drug trafficking through ongoing enforcement efforts,” the release said.
RCMP said the investigation is ongoing.
