Four people have been arrested in Charlotte County following a home invasion in Oak Bay, according to the New Brunswick RCMP.

A 22-year-old man, a 62-year-old man, a 29-year-old man and a 19-year old man were taken into custody by police on April 8.

According to a release from the RCMP, at 8:15 p.m. the St. Stephen RCMP responded to report of a home invasion at a residence in Oak Bay.

“Five individuals had forcefully gained entry to the residence while the homeowners were present,” the release said. “One individual was armed with a weapon and assaulted one of the homeowners, who suffered minor injuries.”

Police said the suspects fled the scene with “undisclosed medications prior to police arrival.”

A short time later, two RCMP officers were returning from a community meeting when they came across the fleeing suspects,” the police said in a release. “The officers exited their vehicle and immediately initiated an arrest.”

RCMP continue to search for a fifth suspect. The 62-year-old man has since been released pending a future court date. The other three men remain in custody.

“Police believe that this was a targeted incident, and there is no risk to public safety,” the release said.
