Pennfield residential fire claims life of 73-year-old woman

A tragic residential fire in Pennfield has claimed the life of a 73-year-old woman.

Eastern Charlotte Fire Department and Ambulance New Brunswick were on scene. They were assisted by the Musquash Fire Department, the St. Andrews Fire Department, and the St. Stephen Fire Department.

According to information provided by St. Stephen RCMP St. Sgt. Geoffrey Peters, St. George RCMP responded to a structure fire at a residence on Brians Road shortly after 6:20 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2025.

Sadly, a 73-year-old woman was found deceased inside the residence.

The New Brunswick Fire Marshal and a representative from the Coroner’s Office were called to the scene. An autopsy has been scheduled to determine the woman’s exact cause of death.

While the investigation is ongoing, police say they do not suspect criminal activity in connection with the fire.

“Our thoughts are with the woman’s family and the entire community during this difficult time,” said Peters.

The Canadian Red Cross is working in support of the Eastern Charlotte Fire Department to provide assistance to individuals affected by a fire.
