RCMP arrest youth in connection to school threats

RCMP say a police operation has concluded at Fundy Middle & High School in St. George.

Cpl. Hans Ouellette with the New Brunswick RCMP said the police received a call at 9:40 a.m. about a threat made to a school on Mount Pleasant Road.

“School officials have made the decision to place the school in “hold-and-secure” status,” he said in a statement.

“Members of the public are asked not to attend the location at this time to allow police to conduct their work. Police are currently at the location to help secure the school and investigate the threats,” Ouellette said. “The investigation is ongoing.”

Police said a youth has been arrested in connection to the threats.

“The youth is currently in police custody. Police updated the school officials who made the decision to lift the “hold-and-secure” status.
