Premier-designate Holt and MLAs to be sworn in Nov. 2

Premier-designate Susan Holt, her cabinet, and the remaining MLAs recently elected in the New Brunswick election will be sworn in on Nov. 2 at the legislative assembly in Fredericton.

A release from the Province of New Brunswick said the transition team had been chosen. Holt will become New Brunswick’s 35th premier, and the province’s first female leader.

“New Brunswickers have given us a clear message: it is time to get to work,” said Holt in the release. “The transition team has the expertise and experience in various sectors to ensure an efficient transition, especially around governance and policy objectives.”

The transition team comprises Kelly Cain, Katie Davey, Len Hoyt, and Serge Rouselle.

Cain was the former chief of staff for the Liberals when it was the Official Opposition. She previously served as the deputy minister for tourism, heritage and culture, human resources and transportation and infrastructure as well as governmental affairs.

Holt also chose Davey, who is the executive director of the Pond-Deshpande Centre. She was a political staff under Premier Brian Gallant.

Lawyer and McInnes Cooper lead partner Len Hoyt is also on the team. He served on two previous transition teams and led the strategic program review that led the province to a surplus in 2017-18.

Finally, Universite de Moncton professor of law Serge Rouselle will also help in the transition – he is also a former provincial cabinet minister.

“The transition team’s aim is to ensure that Holt and her incoming MLAs are able to deliver on the issues most important to New Brunswickers, such as health care and affordability,” the release said.
