A 28-year-old St. Stephen man has been charged following a series of incidents that began with an ATV crash in Old Ridge and later included an alleged disturbance outside Charlotte County Hospital.
St. Stephen RCMP responded to a report of a single-vehicle ATV crash on Route 3 in Old Ridge at approximately 10:56 p.m. on Sept. 3.
Police said the driver and sole occupant of the ATV had left the scene before officers arrived. Investigators allege the man had also threatened other people with an edged weapon before leaving the area. No injuries were reported in connection with the crash.
A short time later, RCMP said it received reports that the same man was causing a disturbance outside Charlotte County Hospital, where police say property and nearby vehicles were damaged.
Officers located and arrested the man on Route 5 in St. Stephen at approximately 12:45 a.m. on Sept. 4. Police say an edged weapon was seized during the arrest.
Travis Leroy Fishwick, 28, appeared in Saint John Provincial Court later that day and was charged with mischief, failure to stop for police and carrying a weapon for a dangerous purpose.
He was remanded into custody and was scheduled to return to court Sept. 8 for a bail hearing.
RCMP are asking anyone with information about the incidents, including dashcam or security footage from the areas involved, to contact the St. Stephen detachment at 506-466-7030. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), through the P3 Mobile App or online through Crime Stoppers New Brunswick.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing.
