RCMP is investigating after a man in his 40s was assaulted on the roadside of Highway 127 near Saint Andrews.
According to a statement from Sgt. Scott MacKenzie, on Nov. 21 a man in his 40s was stopped on the side of the road when an unknown person stopped behind him after flashing his lights.
“Both individuals exited their respective vehicles and an altercation ensued, and the man in his 40s was struck in the head,” the statement said.
Ambulance New Brunswick later checked on the victim and transported him to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
“At this time, it appears to be an isolated incident and no other incidents similar to this have been reported to police in our region,” MacKenzie said in the statement. “Police are investigating this as a possible road rage incident and ask the public to come forward if they have any information related to this occurrence.”
RCMP is also asking the public not to contribute to rumours and misinformation by speculating on the circumstances and to “always make sure the information you receive is from a credible source.”
