The catalogue of events happening during this year’s EarthFest, which is mostly free, on June 8th with Ministers Island has expanded.
According to festival coordinator Muriel Jarvis, this year’s EarthFest will last seven days, and will expand beyond Ministers Island to other locations in the town of St. Andrews.

June 8 is also the beginning of Ministers Island’s tour season, with tourists being able to cross to the island beginning at 2:30 p.m. and ending at 6:00 p.m.
This celebration has been going strong for six years, attracting people to the island to enjoy nature.
The first day will kick off with an opening ceremony, leading people to follow organizers into trail walks, tours, drumming ceremonies, and many other activities which involve the environment.
Jarvis believes everyone should have the same view of the environment as the Indigenous population.
This year the festival, just as last, will have a large Indigenous influence.
The opening ceremony will include a Mother Earth Ceremony, a practice which expresses reverence, and gratitude to all divine energies, which sustain life on Earth.
Events like this will be riddled throughout the town and Minister’s Island over the week, allowing the public to fully experience the heights of nature in St. Andrews.

Another event that Jarvis said would be very exciting is the EarthFest Film Festival.
Happening in two parts on June 13 and June 20 in the Huntsman Discovery Aquarium Theatre, this festival will feature a few filmmakers. The featured titles being, Back to Camp 41, Saving Walden’s World, Inundation District, and Breaking Boundaries – The Science of Our Planet.
On the Van Horne Trail, June 20, there will be QR codes set up along the path which each explain a little bit of the history of our planet. To unlock these special QR codes, all you need to do is scan them with your phone’s camera.
Learn more about each of these events and more on the EarthFest website, Home – EARTHFest, and come to Earthfest to explore the town’s wondrous nature scene.
