Ferry service to Campobello extended until November

Ferry service between Deer Island and Campobello Island has been extended further into the fall season.

The crossing operated by East Coast Ferries Ltd. will continue seven days a week, weather permitting, until Nov. 1, according to the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure.

The ferry was originally scheduled to stop running on Oct. 12.

Campobello is only accessible by land through the United States. Residents must travel through Lubec, Maine, and those living on the island have long advocated for a year-round ferry.
