3 Grand Manan residents arrested in drug seizure

Three people have been arrested following a drug seizure in Pocologan, according to the New Brunswick RCMP.

Police say on March 28 at around 5 p.m., police conducted a traffic stop on Highway 1, where a 47-year-old man from Grand Manan was arrested for breaching and undertaking.

A search of the vehicle by police uncovered what is believed to be cocaine, and two passengers, a 47-year-old man and a 36-year-old woman were also arrested.

Police said on March 31, 47-year-old Gregory Lloyd MacFarland appeared in Saint John Provincial Court and was charged with failure to comply with the conditions of an undertaking. He remains in custody.

The 48-year-old man and the 36-year-old woman were released from custody, pending a future court appearance.

RCMP said the investigation is ongoing.

“The public also plays an important role in helping to reduce, prevent, and solve crime, including the trafficking of illegal drugs,” the RCMP said in a release.

Anyone with information about, or who suspects, illegal drug activity in their neighbourhood is asked to contact their local police. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca.
