McAdam under boil water order, emergency water available

Residents in McAdam are under a boil water order amid a lack of pressure in the municipal water system.

A post to the village’s social media said around noon on Friday said there was a potential water main break in the system.

“You may experience lower water pressure,” the post said. “Please continue to refrain from washing cars, filling swimming pools, outside fires, lawn watering and any excessive water use. You may experience intermittent water disruptions.”

About an hour later, a boil water order was issued for the Village of McAdam by Public Health.

“Our teams are working through the evening and overnight to resolve ongoing issues with the municipal water system,” the post said.

It said it hoped to have the water back up and running by tomorrow. Bottled water is being made available by the village. The boil water order does not impact those who have water sourced from a ground well.

Emergency water resources at the fire hall:

8:30 a.m – 9:00 p.m.

Bottled Water:

Free bottles are available right now for drinking.

Utility Water:

Bring your own containers to fill up water for flushing toilets, washing dishes, etc.

If a resident’s water is still off by noon on June 6, they are encouraged to call the village office. The post said every effort would be made to deliver water.

Village Office Contact: 506-784-2293

“Thank you for your patience and cooperation as we work through the night to fix this system. Please share this post to help inform your neighbours,” the post said.
