UPDATE: Water restored, McAdam under boil water order

Water service has been restored to residents in McAdam following repairs to the water lines in the community.

“Our crews have completed the necessary line work, and all home taps should now be running,” a post on the village’s website said. “The village council sends a massive thank you to our utility crews for their hard work, and to all residents for your incredible patience and support throughout this week.”

A post to the village’s social media said around noon on Friday said there was a potential water main break in the system.

McAdam Mayor Ken Stannix said the village believes it has isolated where the break occurred. He said crews were diligently to find the source, going area by area, to find the issue.

“Crews never stopped working,” he said. “I had to send them home so they could get some sleep.”

Public works and the council set up a command post and Stannix said they worked methodically and had the system up and running in about 48-hours.

The boil water order remains in effect, the municipality said. All water used for consumption or brushing teeth should be brought to a rolling boil for one minute. Stannix said Public Health requires three clean samples of water before the boil order can be lifted.

Water is still be made available by the village, but will be available for pick up at the village office on Monday until the boil water order is lifted.
